Stupid Toy

Our office passed out modified “Rubik’s Cubes” to the employees here a week ago to encourage problem solving and creative thinking. Modified, meaning they have several “success” words printed on the different faces.

Do we not have enough frustrations with work as it is? As far back as my memory serves, there has never been any fun associated with Rubik’s Cubes. Oh, sure, maybe for those few guys in the 80s who could solve it in under 10 seconds. Incidentally, has anyone heard from any of these guys lately? Or are they off living in some remote corner of the world? Maybe sharing a cabin with Bobby Fischer…

Have any of you had one of these things? More importantly, have any of you solved it? I mean, legitimately solved it? Sure, you can peel this stickers off and put them back on so that it looks like you figured it out. With a screwdriver, you can pry it apart and re-attach the pieces to show off your “victory” over the stupid little plastic beast.

Indeed, this Devil Toy has caused more harm than good, causing panic attacks and anxiety the world around. I’m convinced this latest gesture of “fun” from the company is really an attempt at mind control.

I’m not falling for it.

STAND STRONG, BROTHERS AND SISTERS! DON’T LET THE RUBIK’S CUBE MAN HOLD YOU DOWN!

I’m thinking I may need to drink heavily this weekend.

While I was in Rome my temp grabbed one of those for me. It's still in the wrapper locked in the top drawer of my desk. It taunts me when I open that drawer, maybe I should move it.

*gasp* A comment from me...you must be tickled plaid.

Oh and you got the sticker peeling idea from me, didn't you...DIDN'T YOU?!

A friend of my brother; last I heard he was doing a PhD in Physics. Hmph...

~*r*~ - Tickled plaid, indeed. Huh. Who knew that writing something entertaining, that other people might enjoy reading, would encourage comments?

Mine is still in it's wrapper, displayed prominently on my desk. When this whole "creative problem solving" thing blows over, I'll incinerate it.

chickybabe - PhD in physics, huh? No doubt coming up with the next impossible and frustrating toy for the masses to consume...

My cube was somehow accidently messed with...late at night but those mind control nuts. Thankfully, my trust IT guy walked up to my desk, picked it up, and proceeded to solve it in a matter of a few minutes. This is why I am truly devoted to geeks, nerds, and the like...forever! Side note: this particular IT guy is actually very cool and I was shocked that he was also nerdy...

And he has a female sounding name, but we love him anyway. Call him by his real name...he loves it!
